Contact a potential supervisor
Email the academic member of staff directly to introduce yourself, outline your research interests and enquire about possible supervision opportunities. It may be helpful to include a brief summary of your proposed research and your academic background.
Discuss your research proposal
If the academic member of staff is interested in your proposed research, you may have the opportunity to discuss your ideas further and explore whether they would be willing to support your application.
Submit your application
Once you have received support from a prospective supervisor, you can proceed with your formal application through the University's postgraduate admissions system.
You must nominate your prospective supervisor on your application form.
Important: You must contact a prospective supervisor and obtain their support to apply before submitting your application. Support from a prospective supervisor does not guarantee admission to the PhD programme or the award of funding.
