Trevor Robbins Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratories, otherwise known as Common Experimental Area, is a psycho-physiological research hub at the Department of Psychology, providing rooms and equipment for a variety of projects.
The space opened in 2024 and was named after Professor Trevor Robbins (CBE FRS FMedSci), former head of the Department of Psychology, to commemorate his academic legacy of promoting inter-school collaboration and translational science. TRCNLabs aims to support communal research culture in academia.
Whether you are a PI, ECR, postgraduate, or undergraduate member of the Department, we encourage you to use the TRCNLabs services. From SONA and Gorilla management, to finding spaces for your data collection, to showcasing how to handle experimental kit!
TRCNLabs are open to any research projects involving human participants. Rooms are available for designs spanning from behavioural procedures, to neurovisualisation techniques such as EEG (electroencephalography), to VR exploration. You can find more details about each Testing Suite and the available equipment through the navigation menu on the left. Browsing Booker will give you a rough idea of the space and you are also welcome to book your tour of TRCNLabs in person by emailing the Lab-managing Technician Nina via trcnlabs@psychol.cam.ac.uk
For the PIs, who supervise Part II projects 2024-2025, we launched a questionnaire to better understand the Department's needs when it comes to shared research facilities. Please, take part if members of your lab are looking for testing suites and/or equipment: Assessing Experimental Needs at the Department
Note that the access to the form is restricted to people, specified by the Teaching Office. If you believe you should have the access, please email the Lab Technician.
