Department of Psychology

Ekaterina Damer has been announced as the winner of the Department of Psychology's June 2013 photography competition. Katia won with her black and white image, 'Mind the step, never mind the split', which was taken on the New Museums Site.

The prize for the winning image included a signed copy of Dr James Russell's new collection of poetry, Neurotrash, cinema tickets, which were kindly donated by Cambridge Arts Picturehouse (a favourite cinema destination for many of Cambridge's students), and a cash prize of £25.

Katia, who has been studying for the MPhil in Social and Developmental Psychology this year, will extend her MPhil research over the summer in a joint project between the Cambridge Embodied Cognition and Emotion Laboratory and Cambridge Judge Business School. Afterwards, she will move to the University of Sheffield to embark upon her PhD studies in October.

The winning image. The title 'Mind the step, never mind the split' refers to the merger of the Departments of Experimental Psychology and Social and Development Psychology last summer. The newly formed Department is located on two central Cambridge sites: the Downing Site and New Museums Site.
