The Fake News Game, Bad News, (co-developed by Dr Sander van der Linden and Dr Jon Roozenbeek at the Cambridge Social Decision-Making Lab) received the 100,000 Brouwers Trust Prize, from the Royal Holland Society of Sciences for social impact initiatives that bridge science and society.

The Royal Holland Society of Sciences is the oldest of its kind in the Netherlands and the aim of the society and prize is to strengthen trust in society.

The chair of the prize committee remarked that they were "impressed by the scientific research that underpins the game", particularly noting the innovative learning environment where players actively create their own content.

The prize money is to advance the scalability of the initiative further and to further the scientific research underpinning the social impact, coming up with new interventions.
