Congratulations to Dr James Russell, who has just been awarded the Journal of Cognition and Development's Editor's Choice Award (2012) for the following paper, which he co-authored with Brioney Gee and Christina Bullard:

Russell, J., Gee, B. & Bullard, C. (2012). Why do young children hide by closing
their eyes? Self-visibility and the developing concept of self.  Journal of Cognition and Development, 13, 550-576.

This was judged to be the best paper published in the Journal of Cognition and Development during 2012.  In particular the judges felt that it stood out for its innovative and high impact contribution.

The Journal of Cognition and Development is the official journal of the Cognitive Development SocietyDr Russell's award will be announced at the biennial Cognitive Development Society Meeting in Memphis, Tennessee on Friday, October 18, 2013.
