Dr Amy Milton is to visit the University of Canterbury (UC) in Christchurch, New Zealand, as an Erskine Visiting Cambridge Fellow, between August and October.

Dr Milton researches the mechanisms underlying memory reconsolidation.  Using translational animal models of psychiatric disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder and drug addiction, she is developing treatments that work through the disruption of maladaptive memories.

During her visit, Dr Milton will be based at the UC Psychology Department and will work with Dr Juan Canales, whose research encompasses the development of novel medications for the treatment of addictive disorders.

Dr Milton said,  "I'm delighted to be a Visiting Cambridge Fellow at the University of Canterbury. I'm looking forward to some interesting discussions with the faculty and the students, and I hope to begin collaborations that will continue beyond my stay in New Zealand."

Erskine Visiting Cambridge Fellowships are arranged through the Cambridge/Canterbury Academic Exchange Programme, which was launched in 2008 with the aim of forging academic links between the two universities.
