Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology is preparing for the Sutton Trust Summer School in Psychology, a week-long residential programme that is taking place in July.

The Summer Schools are intended to provide A-Level students studying at state schools an insight into the academic life of a first year undergraduate studying at the University of Cambridge. Places on the course are highly competitive, with 160 students having applied for 20 places in all.  Priority is given to students who will be the first generation in their family to attend university, who attend schools or colleges with a low overall A-Level point score, who come from neighbourhoods with low overall progression rates to higher education, or are (or have been) looked after, accommodated or in care.

The programme will include lectures, seminars, practical work and social activities and students will be introduced to the different strands of psychology that are covered on the undergraduate course (cognitive, social, developmental and biological psychology).  This is an excellent opportunity for students to be taught by some of the leading names in the field, as well as rising postdoctoral researchers in the Department.

We look forward to welcoming the students in July, and congratulate them on achieving their hard-won places.
