Medical Research Council PhD Studentship
Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge

The Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, is pleased to announce a Medical Research Council (MRC) supported PhD Studentship to start in October 2013. Applications are welcome.

The Department has an outstanding international reputation in the field of psychiatric research, rated the best psychiatry department in the UK and in Europe, and has excelled in the last three Research Assessment Exercises. The University of Cambridge is consistently ranked among the top universities in the world. The Department welcomes applications for a PhD Studentship to conduct research for a doctoral degree from candidates with a good degree in experimental psychology, biology, medicine, neuroscience, mathematics, biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.

Candidates are asked to put forward a potential project title together with a research proposal. This may be done informally in conjunction with a potential supervisor by email. Applicants for the Studentship should have, or expect to gain a 1st class or 2.1 class Honours degree in an appropriate subject, and may also have completed further research training or a Masters degree. The MRC Studentship stipend will be paid at RCUK rates for the 3 year duration of the award, and fees will be met in full. In addition, the Studentship includes modest funding for running costs of the research (£5K per annum), and costs for travel to scientific conferences each year. The Department awards one MRC studentship each year so this is a highly prestigious scholarship.

To apply, please email the following documents to the Education Administrator (Adisa Pamukcic) ap686@medschl.cam.ac.uk:
