The British Educational Research Association is celebrating its 40th anniversary and to mark the event it has named 40 landmark studies published during the past 40 years.

A study led by Professor Usha Goswami is named in this list of the top 40 seminal studies, appearing in the 2004 to present category. The study investigated whether phonological processing difficulties are associated with difficulties in processing acoustic cues to speech rhythm. The study's finding were published in the Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience (Usha Goswami, H.-L. Sharon Wang, Alicia Cruz, Tim Fosker, Natasha Mead, and Martina Huss. Language-universal Sensory Deficits in Developmental Dyslexia: English, Spanish, and Chinese. Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience. February 2011, Vol. 23, No. 2, pp. 325-337).

The British Educational Research Association exists to promote evidence-based educational research. The list of 40 studies is available here, and there is an accompanying booklet, here.
