Dr Jon Simons will be at the Royal Institution on September 9th, taking part in a panel discussion that will follow a screening of Patient 39, a new short film by Dan Clifton. Patient 39 is adapted from William Boyd's short story, 'Ghost of a Bird', which is set in a World War II British military hospital and studies the relationship that develops between a soldier, who woke up from a coma with no memory, and his doctor.

The panel will discuss the importance of memory to consciousness and the sense of self in people.
