The American Psychological Association (APA) is to honour Professor Michael Lamb with two prestigious awards, which will be presented to him at the APA Annual Convention in Toronto this August.

Professor Lamb will receive the APA Distinguished Scientific Award for the Applications of Psychology, which recognises psychologists who have made distinguished theoretical or empirical progress leading to the understanding or amelioration of pressing practical problems.

The APA Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest will also be presented to Prof. Lamb. This award honours a single outstanding achievement or a lifetime of major contributions in the public interest.

Professor Lamb is a specialist in forensic interviewing. His research, conducted with colleagues in the group he leads, The Applied Developmental Psychology Research Group, has demonstrated how developmentally sensitive interviewing can improve the quantity and quality of information elicited from young victims, witnesses and offenders in investigative situations. He has also conducted important research that examines the role of parent-child relationships and other factors that influence a child's well-being.

Professor Lamb is the editor of the journal, Psychology, Public Policy and Law. A list of his many publications can be found here. Prof. Lamb's outstanding body of work has been recognised by numerous awards, including the G. Stanley Hall Award.
