The 2012 FENS-EJN Award has been presented to Prof Barry Everitt

Professor Barry Everitt has been presented with the 2012 Federation of European Neuroscience Societies-European Journal of Neuroscience Award (FENS-EJN).   An EJN spokesperson commented that,

“Barry Everitt’s research has contributed immensely to our understanding of the neural mechanisms of reward mechanisms, drug-seeking behavior and relapse. [His]… work has had a tremendous impact on the field … he is among the world’s 100 most highly cited neuroscientists.”

The FENS-EJN Award, which is presented biennially and is given in recognition of outstanding scientific research in neuroscience,  was presented to Professor Everitt on the occasion of the 2012 FENS Forum of Neuroscience in Barcelona (July 14-18, 2012). Professor Everitt has been associated with the European Neuroscience Association since it was founded, being one of the signatories (as President of the European Brain and Behaviour Society) to the document that founded the FENS, which came into being in 1998, having chaired the Programme Committee meeting that year. Professor Everitt was also Editor of the European Journal of Neuroscience for 11 years (1997-2008).

 

Professor Everitt receives British Association for Psychopharmacology Lifetime Achievement Award.
