We employ a multidisciplinary approach to the molecular, neural and neuropsychological bases of behaviour in several species. This approach uses sophisticated behavioural paradigms, including operant, touchscreen and self-administration methodology, combined with neuroimaging, neuropharmacological, neurobiological and electrophysiological techniques including use of DREADDs and molecular genetic approaches. Current foci of research include neuropsychological, neurochemical and molecular bases of drug addiction; models of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); cognitive and memory deficits and remediation in models of schizophrenia, depression, and dementia; mental time travel and goal-state attribution in avians. The approach is translational and extends to human studies using parallel paradigms and the methods of cognitive neuroscience.
