Department of Psychology

Dr William J. Matthews is the Department's newest Senior Lecturer, having joined us at the beginning of September. William was previously a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Psychology at the University of Essex.

William, who studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge, excelled in the subject of psychology, and won the Passingham Prize in 2000. He had previously won the Frank Smart Prize for Zoology. He went on to complete his PhD in Cambridge, under the supervision of Dr Donald Laming.

William will teach on the Department's Natural Sciences courses (Part IB Experimental Psychology and Part II Psychology).

Based in the Psychological Laboratory on the Downing Site, William will pursue his primary research interest in human judgment and decision-making, with a focus on judgments and decisions relating to time.
