Humans have an enduring relationship with poetry, which has lasted over thousands of years. The BBC World Service programme, The Why Factor, is going to ask why it is that people like poetry. They have interviewed Professor of Cognitive Developmental Neuroscience, Usha Goswami, to help them answer this question. Usha describes how rhythms and predictable patterns draw us to poetry, and she explains why this might be the case.

The programme airs on the 15 November and will then be available on The Why Factor episodes page.
