The outstanding contribution to teaching made by Dr Mike Aitken will be recognised by the award of a Pilkington Prize this summer.
Pilkington Prizes, which recognise and honour excellence in teaching, have been awarded annually for the past twenty years. They were established in 1994 by Sir Alastair Pilkington, who had a strong belief that the University’s success was dependent on the quality of its teaching, and so wanted to ensure that excellent teaching was given proper recognition.
Dr Aitken, who is Director of Undergraduate Teaching in the Department, and Deputy Director of Education in the School of the Biological Sciences, has made a sustained and major contribution to teaching over a number of years, and has been responsible for successfully managing the introduction of a new Tripos, Psychological and Behavioural Sciences.
