Department of Psychology

On the 18th of July, 45 young psychologists were formally inducted into the Junior Researcher Programme during the Blue & White Gala Evening at the 2015 European Summer School, hosted this year in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain. The JRP is an international research programme for early career psychologists, involving undergraduate and graduate students placed in six research groups, each lead by a doctoral or postdoctoral researcher. The programme is directed by Kai Ruggeri (Cambridge Psychology) and involves young researchers from over 25 countries annually. Since 2011, JRP projects have gone on to publish more than 30 scientific articles and have been presented over 50 times at international conferences. The newly inducted group is working on projects on psychometrics, with the 2015-16 theme: ‘Psychological Assessment: If you treasure it, measure it’.

In Cambridge, the programme is supported by the Department of Psychology, the Engineering Design Centre, and Corpus Christi College, each of whom host various activities and research events every August, including the annual JRP Conference. This year’s JRPC speakers include Prof Andy Field (13/8) from the University of Sussex and Prof José Maria Peiró (14/8), who directs the Erasmus Mundus programme in organisational psychology. JRP projects will be presented on the 15th of August in the McCrum Theatre, Corpus Christi College. More information on the programme is available at http://jrp.efpsa.org.
