Inside My Mind is a BBC 3 documentary that seeks to understand and explain mental illness by viewing it from different perspectives. It presents the personal experiences of mental illness suffers and their families and describes, with the aid of computer-generated imagery, the biological processes that underlie the psychiatric disorders that are affecting them. It also considers some of the cutting-edge treatments that are being developed.

The programme looks at five patients and their psychiatric disorders, which include schizophrenia, anorexia nervosa, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).  Dr Claire Gillan, a Research Associate in the Department who researches the contribution of basic learning processes to psychiatric illness, makes an appearance in the programme to talk about OCD.

Inside My Mind, which is part of BBC 3's It's a Mad World season, aired on Wednesday 7th August. It will continue to be available for a limited period on iPlayer.
