Whilst on sabbatical leave Trevor visited the USA from October 11th to 22nd. He gave two lectures; First, the Keynote Lecture to a Conference of the Conté Centre, University of Rochester, NY on "Persistent and maladaptive behavior: Why we make bad choices" : and Second, "A Festschrift for Dr Mortimer Mishkin of the Laboratory of Neuropsychology", NIMH, Bethesda, USA. Dr Mishkin has just retired at the age of 90. One of the other speakers was Cambridge Psychology alumnus Brenda Milner FRS, who is 98!

Trevor and (partner) Professor Barbara Sahakian collected the Robert Sommer Award for their research into schizophrenia on November the 4th at the biennial symposium hosted by the Centre for Psychiatry at Justus Liebig University School of Medicine, Giessen, Germany. Robert Sommer was a close friend of Wilhelm Wundt who established the first laboratory for Experimental Psychology at Leipzig. Previous recipients of the Award have included Professors Tim Crow, Sir Robin Murray, and Dr D. Weinberger (NIMH), as well as the only other psychologists to have been so honoured, Profs. Uta. and Chris D. Frith. As well as receiving a medal, the awardees were required to conduct a brass band (the current Deutschland National Champions) at an evening concert prior to the celebration banquet.
